Richard Ikiebe

Richard Ikiebe is the Chairman of the Board of Directors BusinessDay Nigeria. Until recently, he served as a Senior Fellow and pioneer Director of the Centre for Leadership in Journalism at the School of Media Communication (SMC) at Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. He continues to work with the University as an Adjunct Senior Fellow.

A former Vice-Chairman of the Board, Cornerstone Insurance Plc., he has served as Executive Director/CEO Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Board of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council. Dr. Ikiebe was a Visiting Scholar to the University of Westminster, London. He is an active promoter of peaceful cohabitation of ethnic groups and religions across Africa and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the International Organisation for Peace Building and Social Justice.

Richard started his career as a Reporter/Features Writer with the Daily Times in 1978. He worked with the Pan African-News Agency, Dakar, Senegal and Newswatch Magazine, before he was appointed as Communications Policy Adviser to the Federal Minister of Information and later as Special Adviser in the Presidency. He obtained his Ph.D. in Media and Communication from the University of Westminster, an M.A. in International Relations from Ohio University, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. He holds a Diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
